Energetic star Ram Pothineni has officially launched RAPO23, his career’s most ambitious project. In addition to starring in the film, Ram is making his directorial debut and has written the original story for this psychological action thriller, which features a neo-noir setting.
Launch Ceremony Marks Production Kickoff
The film was inaugurated today with a traditional pooja ceremony in Hyderabad. Producer Krishna Pothineni presented the script to Ram, while veteran actor Murali Mohan initiated the camera for the muhurtham shot. PV Ravi Kishore clapped the board, and Ram directed the first scene himself.
Principal photography commenced immediately after the ceremony, with Ram joining the film’s principal cast on set. Nivetha Pethuraj is reported to be playing the female lead opposite Ram, who plays a character named Veera in this neo-noir thriller.
High-Budget Production with Top Technical Team
Produced by Krishna Pothineni under the newly established Rapo Cinematics banner, RAPO23 is the highest-budget film of Ram’s career. The technical team includes National Award-winning cinematographer Thiru, renowned action choreographer Peter Hein, and production designer AS Prakash.
With Ram handling direction, the lead role, and the original story, RAPO23 represents a major creative shift for the actor. The psychological action thriller, first announced in May, is targeting a December 2026 theatrical release.
